Privacy Policy

Tide & Terra ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and with the Spam Act 2003 for marketing messages.

1. What we collect

Order details: name, email, phone, delivery and billing address, the items you buy and the amounts paid. Payment card details are handled only by our payment providers (for example Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay) and are never stored by us.
Account details if you create an account: login and order history.
Messages you send us by email or through the contact form, including photos you attach for a return.
Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Newsletter: your email address, only if you subscribe.

2. Why we use it

To process, deliver and support your order, including returns, refunds and fraud checks.
To answer your questions and keep a record of our correspondence.
To send you order updates (confirmation, dispatch, tracking, delivery).
To send marketing emails or SMS only with your consent; every message has an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time.
To measure and improve the site and our advertising, with analytics and advertising cookies you can refuse through the cookie banner or your browser.
To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

3. Who we share it with

Only with the providers we need to run the store, who may only use your information to provide their service to us: Shopify (store hosting and checkout), payment providers, our logistics partners and carriers (including partners located outside Australia, so that your order can be prepared and delivered), email and customer-care tools, and advertising and analytics platforms (such as Meta and Google) where you have accepted cookies. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We never sell your personal information.

4. Overseas disclosure

Because our products are shipped by overseas partners and some of our software providers are based overseas (for example in the United States, Canada and Asia), your order information is disclosed outside Australia for the purposes above. We take reasonable steps to make sure these recipients handle it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Cookies

Essential cookies make the cart and checkout work. Analytics and marketing cookies are used only with your consent, which you can give or withdraw through the cookie banner and your browser settings.

6. How long we keep it

Order and accounting records: 7 years, as required by Australian tax law. Account data: until you ask us to close the account. Marketing data: until you unsubscribe. Browsing data: according to the lifetime of each cookie.

7. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to customer data is limited to the people who need it, and payment details never pass through our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop marketing, by emailing support@tideandterra.shop. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
